What to Expect When You Start Personal Training

Whether you’re new to the gym, have a specific goal, or just feel like you’re missing that extra something in your workout, personal training will take you to the next level.

If you’ve never done it before, here’s what to expect!

    Questions and enthusiasm:

Personal training is SO much more than just a one on one workout. To get you where you want to be, our trainers will ask you lots of background questions to discover your goals, what your lifestyle is like outside of the gym, to find out about any pre-existing injuries or ongoing conditions and to see what your experiences have been like with exercise in the past.

Whether your goal is to run (or walk) point to pinnacle, lose that stubborn weight that’s crept on over the last few months, or to improve your fitness in general our trainers love nothing more than helping and watching you reach your goals.  Expect some enthusiastic, but realistic encouragement and make sure you’re ready to celebrate your successes.

    A Challenge:

You will always push yourself further when there’s someone standing there cheering you on. To reach your goal, whatever it may be, you’re going to have to put in the hard yards and push past your usual point of giving up.

Our trainers will have you holding that plank a few more seconds, completing a couple more reps and lifting just that little bit heavier than you thought you could.

    A more effective workout:

They didn’t study for nothing! Personal trainers know the most effective way to program your sessions. They’re able to cue you to do exercises in different ways for different results. This may mean adding in pauses at the bottom of your squats or having you do extra slow bicep curls. If you’re ever wondering why they’ve asked you to change how you’re doing something, ask! There’s nothing they love more than sharing that PT wisdom.

Personal Trainers will also be able to judge how you’re doing exercises and correct your form when needed. If they offer you a correction, you might notice you feel it so much more the next day, or even in a different area! This makes sure you’re engaging the right muscles for the job and will prevent training injuries.

    Added confidence:

Now that you’ve had an expert show you how, using the equipment on your own feels more natural because you actually know what you’re doing. Replicating the exercises you did in your last session a couple of times a week when training alone is a great way to progress and go to your next session stronger than ever.

No more worrying if you’re doing it right, now you KNOW you are!
